Took the bike to a mech to get the tank cleaned.
The mech said it was possible to provide a yezdi bike with and electric start.

More work
Feb 2007 To Aug 2007
I spent around 20K to get the bike done up by a mech in Sion (Akram). Wouldn't recommend him to anyone again. It was a complete nightmare dealing with him.
Mar 2008
This year got the block re-bored by Chotubhai in Feb-March. Also had the formalities of the biking fitness done. Chotubhai ran up a bill of 4K approx.

Bike wouldn't start. Called up Samad and then went to his garage. Reached his garage at around 11 AM and had to wait till 3 PM before he was free to leave with me to get my bike started. Samad got the bike started and managed to con(vince) me into putting lock where the petrol leaves the tank and flow to the carb. I had asked him to put in a side carrier and rear carrier as well. He ran up a bill of 4K approx.

Today (4th Oct '08), took my bike to Samads garage and discovered a lot more work needed to be done. Such as:
The front and rear wheel needs to be throughed
The following need to be replaced: 3 gear wheels, 2 ball bearings, the odometer, the oil seal and the clutch plates.
This last piece of work was a shoddy job - as the wheels wobbled and all-ah-bicks wouldnt budge to try to rectify the problem.

My first bike - A 1985 CL-II Yezdi
April 2002
My first bike is a 1985 CL-II model Yezdi. Bought it in April of 2002, from an elderly parsi gentleman for around 8K (including the cost of having it transported to my house). Had bought the bike to learn riding. I learned to ride and got my licence too.
Rode the bike for a while - but was unable to locate a good yezdi mech in vashi. And so one day when the gears/piston got stuck - I just let the bike lie there for quite a while. A year - maybe two. Till someone gave me the number of a mechanic who said he would get the bike running again.
That was in Feb of 2007. Got the bike back from him in August of 2007. Did not ride it much though - till very recently.
